Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is a benign thickening of the nerve tissue (usually between the 3rd and 4th toes) that causes sharp, burning pain in the ball of the foot, often accompanied by tingling or numbness in the toes.

Causes & Triggers

  • Tight, narrow, or high-heeled shoes
  • Repetitive irritation or pressure on the forefoot
  • Foot deformities that increase nerve compression

Symptoms

  • Burning pain in the ball of the foot
  • Pain that worsens with walking or tight shoes
  • Numbness or tingling in adjacent toes

Treatment

Initial treatment includes footwear modification, metatarsal pads, orthotics to relieve pressure, activity modification and steroid injections for temporary relief. Surgery to remove the neuroma is considered when conservative care fails.

Delhi Foot offers diagnosis with clinical exam and ultrasound, and tailored non-surgical or surgical management when required.
