Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia describes pain in the ball of the foot most commonly felt under the second, third or fourth metatarsal heads. Activities involving running or jumping often aggravate it.

Causes

  • Overuse from sports or high-impact activities
  • High-arch foot or foot deformities
  • Improper footwear or sudden increase in activity

Treatment

Management includes rest, metatarsal pads, cushioned footwear, activity modification, and custom orthotics to redistribute pressure. If pain persists, injection therapy or further evaluation may be advised.

Delhi Foot provides assessment and tailored orthotic solutions to relieve forefoot pain and return patients to activity pain-free.
